\nIn Pico Island we had a great whale watching day. We saw 7 species of cetaceans. The highlight of the day was witnessing how 2 beaked whales were breaching at the same time!<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, we also had time to see sperm whales, spotted dolphins, common dolphins, risso’s dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and a sei whale. What a day…!<\/span>

\nToday we had a lot of dolphins along the south coast of S\u00e3o Miguel island. <\/span><\/span>In the morning our different boats went in different directions and so we <\/span>could all encounter different dolphin species. In total we registered three <\/span>different dolphin species during the morning: Atlantic spotted dolphins, <\/span>bottlenose dolphins and common dolphins. To the west two of our boats also <\/span>briefly encountered some beaked whales, although we couldn’t identify the <\/span>exact species, which is often the case with beaked whales as they are very <\/span>shy and elusive whales. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nIn the afternoon we returned to the ocean to <\/span>encounter different groups of common dolphins inshore and offshore. We had <\/span>some really nice encounters with them and especially enjoyed seeing their <\/span>many babies traveling together with the group.<\/p>\n
