This week we are having the European Week for Waste Reduction <\/a>and to emphasize this <\/span>initiative our team of<\/span> nature lovers went collecting <\/span>garbage<\/span> from two hike trails in S\u00e3o Miguel Island: <\/span>Ribeira<\/a><\/span> Funda<\/a> and Praia da Viola<\/a>. <\/span><\/span>
\n
<\/span><\/span>
\nWe gathered a big amount of waste but the two locations had very different types of garbage. <\/span><\/span>
\n
<\/span><\/span>
\nIn Ribeira <\/span>Funda, we found a lot of agricultural residues such as bags of fertilizers, bags from cow food and others. <\/span><\/span>
\n
<\/span><\/span>
\nIn Praia da Viola trail we found completely random waste residues such as flip-flops, water bottles, ropes, shopping bags, etc… <\/span><\/span>
\n
<\/span><\/span>
\nIt is our responsibility to help developing better tourism practices and l<\/span>ittle by little, we can all make a big difference in waste management and the sustainability of our planet. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
