They are fairly easy to&nbsp;recognise&nbsp;due to this heavily arched jaw which is&nbsp;equiped&nbsp;with two large barnacle encrusted teeth in mature males. Even in females and calves the jaw is distinctively arched.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"text-align: left;\">Blainville&#8217;<\/span><span style=\"text-align: left;\">s<\/span><span style=\"text-align: left;\">&nbsp;beaked whales are widely distributed in temperate and tropical waters of the world. Like <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/beaked-whale-fact-sheet.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">other beaked whales<\/a> they inhabit deep waters beyond the continental shelf, although in some areas they may be found in shallower more inshore waters than other beaked whales. They perform short dive sequences at 15 \u2013 20 second intervals, followed by long dives of up to 54 minutes duration. On surfacing the beak points skywards.
