The Atlantic blue marlin (hereafter, blue marlin) feeds on wide variety of organism near the surface. Blue marlins are distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. They have a dark blue back with lighter flanks, blue fins and a silver belly. It is an open water fish that spends the majority of its life in the high seas, far from land. They can be found in epipelagic zone (from 0 to 200 m). Females can grow up to four times the weight of males. Adult blue marlin have few predators apart from man. Blue marlins usually appear in the Azores when the temperature of the water is about 22\u00ba C (July, August and September).
