The lesser blacked-backed gull can reach a length of 51 to 61 cm, with a wingspan of 124 to 127 cm and a weight of 550 to 1,200 g. They nest in colonies in northern and central Europe, Iceland, Scotland, Finland and Scandinavia. They undergo short migrations and many individuals spend the winter in southern Europe. They can be seen in the Azores, in all the islands but more likely to be seen in winter time. They can live to be 34 years old, and they feed mainly on fish but they are omnivorous. They lay 2 to 3 eggs at a time. Incubation time is 25 to 28 days and fledging occurs at 35 to 40 days.

In other languages
Portuguese: Gaivota de asa escura
Spanish: Gaviota sombría
French: Goéland brun
Italian: Zafferano
German: Heringsmöwe
Dutch: Kleine mantelmeeuw
Swedish: Silltrut
Norwegian: Sildemåke
Danish: Sildemåge
Finnish: Selkälokki
Polish: Mewa żółtonoga
Russian: Клу́ша

Larus fuscus | Lesser black-backed gull The lesser black-backed gull is similar to the yellow-legged gull (with yellow legs…

[313
277,79

Lesser black-backed gull fact sheet - Azores Whales

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/#website","url":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/","name":"Azores Whales","description":"Azores Whale Watching Blog","potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/?s={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/lesser-black-backed-gull-fact-shee/#webpage","url":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/lesser-black-backed-gull-fact-shee/","name":"Lesser black-backed gull fact sheet - Azores Whales","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/#website"},"datePublished":"2007-07-31T15:04:00+00:00","dateModified":"2020-02-12T13:10:13+00:00","author":{"@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/#/schema/person/ccbb558acf5445295d665fb153636c78"},"breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/lesser-black-backed-gull-fact-shee/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/lesser-black-backed-gull-fact-shee/"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/lesser-black-backed-gull-fact-shee/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/","url":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/","name":"Home"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"item":{"@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/lesser-black-backed-gull-fact-shee/#webpage"}}]},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/#/schema/person/ccbb558acf5445295d665fb153636c78","name":"Futurismo Biologists Team","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://whalewatchingazores.com/blog/#personlogo","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/bc557f0ad5ebe29d770478dfcbf8f29d?s=96&d=mm&r=g","contentUrl":"https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/bc557f0ad5ebe29d770478dfcbf8f29d?s=96&d=mm&r=g","caption":"Futurismo Biologists Team"},"description":"At Futurismo, we are not just a sea team.
