April is a great month to come whale watching in the Azores because this is the time that the large baleen whales (like the blue whale, fin whale and sei whale) migrate past the Azores. Additionally, we can regularly see our resident species (namely the sperm whale, common dolphin, bottlenose dolphin and Risso&#8217;s dolphin) and several seasonal species that visit when the water is warming up. The above graph shows the sighting frequency (days sightings of all the days we went to sea) off all 9 species seen this month.
