In fact this past month we have achieved a record number of days on the sea&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;whale and dolphin sightings compared to the past five years. We have been out 17 days this month and had several encounters with 7 different cetacean species (<a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/humpback-whale.html\">humpback whales<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/sperm-whale.html\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: blue;\">sperm whales<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/pilot-whale-spp.html\">pilot whales<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/rissos-dolphin.html\">Risso\u00b4s dolphins<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/atlantic-spotted-dolphin.html\">Atlantic spotted dolphins<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/bottlenose-dolphin.html\">bottlenose dolphins<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\">common dolphins<\/a>). Our humpback whale sightings were a first for this time of the year, and it wasn&#8217;t just one but two different individuals that we saw! Another&nbsp;special December sighting for us was a <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/dermochelys-coriacea-leatherback-turtle.html\">leatherback turtle<\/a> last week.
