Around the Azorean archipelago, the hydrothermal vents release nutrients into the water\u2019s column and the seamounts &#8211; together with the valleys they create &#8211; influence the cold Ocean\u2019s bottom currents, bringing them upwards with all the nutrients they retain. With these trades and movements, the poor oligotrophic open Ocean\u2019s environment will be enriched and therefore life will bloom at the surroundings of this mounts.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"-webkit-font-kerning: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-kerning: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\">Today, we travelled to a seamount over the south of Pico Island to explore the Ocean\u2019s life. We roamed through and around it and there, we found a quite active pod of <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.com\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">common dolphins<\/a> that surrounded our boat and stayed with us for a lot of time. With our hydrophone, everyone onboard were able to ear them communicating and echolocating the space around us.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-kerning: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-kerning: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\">They got really curious about the boat and the hydrophone that was inside the water!
