Our spotter saw a pod of dolphins some miles away from our harbour, so we navigated west to the area. Along the hundreds of Portuguese man o\u2019 war and a few turtles, we were able to quickly spot a blue shark that was swimming close to surface.&nbsp; After had spot the first tiny dorsal fins at distance we understood it was one of the small species of delphinid. We approached them slowly and after getting closer, we could identify the striped dolphins.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-8.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"465\" data-original-width=\"900\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-8.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">They were calm and unexpectedly swimming quite close to the boat. It was a pod of at least 100 individuals with several small calves.
