The main thing holding us back this month was the low number of tourists to go whale watching. Most of the time the weather has been nice, and there are animals out there, but being winter it is the low season for us. Nevertheless, we have had 6 tours this month and in these few days we have seen 6 cetacean species. These species are listed below, ordered by those most sighted and showing their sighting frequencies for the month:<\/div>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common dolphin<\/a> (<i>Delphinus delphis<\/i>) &#8211; 100%<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/sperm-whale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sperm whale<\/a> (<i>Physeter macrocephalus<\/i>) &#8211; 17%<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/fin-whale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fin whale<\/a> (<i>Balaenoptera physalus<\/i>) &#8211; 17%<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/bottlenose-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bottlenose dolphin<\/a> (<i>Tursiops truncatus<\/i>) &#8211; 17%<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/striped-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Striped dolphin<\/a> (<i>Stenella coeruleoalba<\/i>) &#8211; 17%<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/orcakiller-whale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Orca\/Killer whale<\/a> (<i>Orcinus orca<\/i>) &#8211; 17%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe highlight of January was a tour in which we saw 4 different species including a fin whale and an Orca. The orca was seen chasing a ray and we got some really good underwater video.
