\nToday we resighted orcas (also known as killer whales)<\/a> in S\u00e3o Miguel! It was the same group that we saw here on April 4th<\/a> and 5th<\/a> and January 8th<\/a>. With all of these resightings we know that they must be staying in the area and not travelling away so far from S\u00e3o Miguel. Every time we see this group there is a male present and he has been seen with several females as well as calves. This afternoon we encountered at least 5 different individuals, including the male. This male was first seen in January with a ray<\/a> (which we filmed underwater and can be seen by clicking HERE<\/a>). Today the same male was seen with something in his mouth (which looked to be a turtle and can be seen in one of our photos below). As well as this feeding behaviour we also saw the male mating with one of the females of the group. This is a great indication that these orcas are reproducing!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\nIn the morning we did not see the orcas, but instead we had an amazing encounter with a large curious group of bottlenose dolphins<\/a> followed by a much smaller group of common dolphins<\/a>. Below are some of our photos and video from today:<\/p>\n
