This male sperm whale has been around the island on the<br \/>\nlast few days, and today amazed us with his huge tail several times. So.. he<br \/>\nwas foraging, both in the morning and afternoon!<\/span><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\">Who knows how much food does he need to be<br \/>\nsatisfied! Furthermore, we took our chance to listen to him. Did you know that<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.com\/2007\/07\/sperm-whale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sperm whales<\/a> have the most powerful echolocation sound of the animal kingdom??<br \/>\nAnd they use it when foraging! As he almost does, this big sperm whale did not dissapoint us when<br \/>\nhe came up to the surface. They were socializing and leaping<br \/>\nout of the water showing their bellies! This kind of behaviour is not very<br \/>\ncommon for the striped dolphins here around s<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00e3<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;arial&quot; , &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\">o Miguel. They also<br \/>\nhad lots of calves.
