We left Ponta Delgada early in the<br \/>\nmorning with the sun shining upon us and with three boats&nbsp;containing people eager to<br \/>\nsee some species of cetaceans. Our <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/vigias-onshore-lookouts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lookout<\/a> (vigia) had spotted several groups of<br \/>\ndolphins so he guided us towards the first group of them, a group of about 30<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/bottlenose-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bottlenose dolphins<\/a> (<i>Tursiops truncatus<\/i>) which were spread out in the<br \/>\narea, and as usual, really social and interested in us. After enjoying the<br \/>\nplayful dolphins, we drove to another group spotted by our &#8220;vigia&#8221;, a<br \/>\ngroup of <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">common dolphins<\/a> (<i>Delphinus delphis<\/i>), which were more quiet<br \/>\nand social than the other dolphins,&nbsp;although we could observe them very close to<br \/>\nour boats, while bowriding and surfing the waves. Nevertheless, we could make it and we could&nbsp;re-encounter the same groups of bottlenose dolphins and two groups of common dolphins. The common dolphins were again really interested in us, and our tourists could enjoy them despite the weather conditions. Besides these encounters, one of our boats found a silver scabbardfish (<i>Lepidopus caudatus<\/i>), as happened a few days ago.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">Today&#8217;s best news is that the <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/corys-shearwater-fact-sheet.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cory&#8217;s shearwaters <\/a>(<i>Calonectris diomedea<\/i>), which Azorean population represents about 60-70% of the world population, keep arriving from their annual migration routes, and now they are already one of the most common sea birds&nbsp;around these islands, since during the lasts days their numbers have highly increased.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">More good news is that the water&nbsp;becoming very rich in&nbsp;food such as algae ( as we could&nbsp;see by the water&#8217;s green colouration)&nbsp;which feeds the rest of the food chain. It is undoubtedly a good signal for the presence of baleen whales&#8230; will we see them on the next trip?<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<i><br \/><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_2019-1.jpg\"
