\nToday our catamaran Cetus took to the water for the first time this year. Calm conditions and a mirror like sea provided us with excellent viewing of both bottlenose dolphins<\/a> and a fin whale<\/a>. The Fin whale<\/a> was our first species of the tour. The characteristic vertical blow and short curved fin allowed our biologists to identify the species easily. During the encounter this whale exhibited typical feeding behaviour taking short breaths and diving frequently. Continuing our search our lookout spotted a large pod of bottlenose dolphins<\/a> approximately 80-100 individuals. The pod ranged in ages from adults to calves, all bowriding and swimming alongside our boats which made for great photo opportunities. Our zodiac boat also came across a small group of common dolphins<\/a> before they returned to Ponta Delgada. Various seabirds were also sighted during the tour including common tern<\/a>, Corys Shearwater<\/a> and yellowlegged gull<\/a>.<\/div>\n
