Today we had another amazing summer day in São Miguel – perfect for whale and dolphin watching as well as swimming with dolphins in the big blue ocean.
For the dolphin swimmers, we had a nice group of bottlenose dolphins in the morning close to Ponta Delgada, and common dolphins in the afternoon.

For the whale and dolphin watchers, we had a group of sperm whales to show throughout the day. In the morning we encountered four of them together at the surface (3 adults and a juvenile) and in the afternoon we counted at least 7 sperm whales together, socializing at the surface (plus a few more distant blows in the area). We also encountered dolphins from our whale and dolphin watching tours – Atlantic spotted dolphins in the morning and a group of common dolphins with many newborn babies in the afternoon just before arriving back in the afternoon.
